Zipcode: 37205 Phone Number: 615-356-1556 Located on the border of old-money Belle Meade, Anatolia is one of the few ethnic restaurants around that’s nice enough to impress a first date. With white tablecloths, candlelight and attentive service, this is no hole-in-the-wall doling out routine schwarma and hummus. Turkish favorites such as Iskender kebab, baby lamb chops and manti (Turkish ravioli) are joined by rural traditional dishes that are normally hard to find — even in Istanbul. It’s all presented with a bit of flair, and a few well-chosen paintings and artifacts provide a sense of place without a lot of kitsch. Adventurous couples cross paths with high society, and a few resident Turks are usually on hand — including the owner of CAO Cigars. Despite the strip mall location, this trip to Anatolia is worth booking. Save room for a Turkish coffee and some of the most heavenly desserts in town.
