Tiny, dark and packed with the young and hip, Barrio Chino is a spot to see and be seen. The wooden tables are either communal or so close together you’ll get to know your tablemates rather well, which on slow nights is fun. But when it’s slammed, watch out: Your neighbors’ el-bows may get in the way. The decor incorporates Asian elements while the food is Latin. The menu is mainly tapas and includes delicious seafood (like camarones borracho — shrimp cooked with tequila), taquitos and guac that’s fresh as can be. Barrio Chino is also the spot for inventive margaritas. The preferred poison? A grapefruit marg infused with peppers (just enough for a kick). If you’re feeling daring, ask for the habanero pepper one. The bar is stocked with more than 50 types of tequilas, so go ahead and ditch the Cuervo.
