Located on Franklin Avenue at Bronson, just east of Hollywood, the Pig is open ‘til 2 a.m. No wonder it feels and looks more like a bar than a café. The pseudo-bohemian, not-so-starving artist vibe of Bourgeois Pig is enhanced by the existence of the ‘zine-friendly Daily Planet newsstand next door. Espressos and lattes, served in house mugs, are particularly good. Arrive early in the morning and stake out a table for your laptop with the rest of the hipster wannabe-screenwriters, or come for after-dinner drinks and hide out in back with the pool table and aging, sagging, uber-comfortable velvet couches.
