Address: 55 W 44th St Zipcode: 10036 Competition is fierce among New York City’s luxury hotels, but the posh, 65-room City Club, formerly a gentlemen’s club (hence the name), has risen to the challenge with vigor and is now considered one of the hippest hotels in the city. It helps that the man behind City Club is Jeff Klein, a jet-setting Manhattanite who not only knows how to create a buzz, but knows lots of people in high places. He commissioned hot designer Jeffrey Bilhuber to create the hotel’s chic decor, and the result is gorgeous, inviting rooms with soft beige furnishings, cork floors, cashmere blankets, and TVs discreetly hidden behind mirrors. The bathrooms are done up in chocolate marble and nickel chrome, and once you’ve submerged yourself in the oversized tub, with Hermes bath products at your disposal, you may never want to leave. And you don’t have to: Room service is provided by DB Bistro Moderne, the hotel’s superlative French restaurant owned by Daniel Boulud, one of New York’s most acclaimed chefs.
