Not only can you satiate yourself silly on traditional Jewish delicacies – Matzo ball soup or whitefish salad, anyone? – but you can also indulge in an array of other gourmet treats, including mussels remoulade and eggplant caviar. It can be pricey – twelve dollars may seem an awful lot to pay for a chopped liver sandwich but the pinch on your wallet is tempered by the inviting, lunch-counter vibe, with its bright checkered floors and chatty waitresses, and the fact that the gargantuan portions will negate having to eat again until the next day.
