Not a clue what to do with the fussy kid you’re babysitting? You and every grandparent in the five boroughs would be highly advised to make a trip to Eddie’s Sweet Shop, a 1900s-era ice cream parlor that has rightfully earned its place among many of NYC’s “best of” lists. You may have to trek out to Forest Hills for the trip, but after one heaping spoonful of that hot fudge sundae, Eddie’s will be your new BFF. The place is old and looks more small-town Midwest than Queens. The cast-iron stools leave an imprint on your bum and the extensive Beanie Baby collection is a tad spooky, but after a taste of the homemade rum raisin slathered with a healthy amount of gooey syrup and rich whipped cream, you’ll soon be fighting the little brats over their chocolate malteds.
