The barstools at Fraunces Tavern have been warmed by the historical likes of the Sons of Liberty, who roused support for the coming revolution, and other historical greats. It was here, in 1768, that the first New York Chamber of Commerce originally met, and George Washington chose this spot to give his farewell speech after the Revolutionary War. Historic artifacts and battle murals still grace the tavern’s hallowed walls, but these days it’s mostly financial types and their friends who come by for some post-work imbibing.
