Like its name suggests, the Hotel Monaco brings a decidedly European air to Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. Its pale, expansive lobby looks like a re-imagined Mediterranean palazzo, where purple velvet and zebra stripes replace gold brocade. The hotel’s stylish opulence fits right in on the Magnificent Mile, Chicago’s home for European style from the likes of Armani, Prada and Gucci. Hotel Monaco’s guest rooms are both elegant and playful. Walls are painted in avocado green and pale cream stripes, with cushy microsuede couches and a goldfish to keep you company. The delicately patterned red duvets pull the pale walls and dark curtains together, with charming accents such as red and white striped chairs. While the lobby and guest rooms appear distinctly European, the Hotel Monaco’s restaurant is strictly American.
