One bite into a creamy wedge of Junior’s famous cheesecake and you’ll no doubt agree with the longtime boast that “You haven’t really lived until you’ve had cheesecake at Junior’s.” This cheery Brooklyn institution doesn’t just ooze cheesecake, but history as well. The family-style diner has been serving up slices since 1950 to a parade of visitors from longtime Brooklynites to movie stars and politicians, including one Bill Clinton. New York cheesecake is made, quite simply, with cream cheese, cream, eggs and sugar. Purists go for Junior’s plain cheesecake, but choices abound, from the brownie marble swirl to cherry crumb. If you’re watching your carbs, don’t despair – Junior’s offer up a surprisingly delicious sugar-free low carb version.
