This beach is a neighborhood favorite for swimming, sunbathing, rollerblading, volleyball and even fishing. Named after the late chief of the Mayors Office of Special Events, the beach has become increasingly popular with the gay and lesbian community in recent years. An informal volleyball league displays the rainbow-colored gay pride flag from atop one of the nets, while many other gay men and women come here to watch the game or just soak in the sun and the scene. Plenty of straight folks from the neighborhood have also recently discovered this oasis.
