Address: 672 S. La Brea Ave. Zipcode: 90036 Phone Number: 323-934-2110 Website: http://www.lunaparkla.com The corner of La Brea and Wilshire was a troubled spot for restaurants until Luna Park came to town and wowed the neighborhood. West of Korea Town on the Miracle Mile, Luna Park is a small, dark restaurant and bar that attracts a young, semi-wealthy, Melrose-type crowd. Lunch, dinner and cocktails are served daily, and brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays. The wine selection is reasonably extensive, with bottles ranging from $18 to $90, so it accommodates both a client get-together on the company credit card or a flirty date. Reserve a booth in a curtain-optional enclave for ultra-privacy. For cocktails in a group, mojitos are especially popular and come with umbrellas and plastic toys inside the glass. Crimson Cosmos and Oranjitos provide a sweet treat; they contain pomegranate juice and sugar cane liquor, respectively. Fresh twists on old favorites adorn the dinner menu – think childhood delights with a grown-up makeover. Try the artichoke with lemon sauce (you dip the leaves with your fingers), mussels with french fries or the oven-baked macaroni and cheese and broccoli with or without Nueske smoked ham. The dessert menu is a thing of nostalgic beauty: bananas foster, caramel fondue and do-it-yourself s’mores, among others.
