Located on the corner of Sixth Street and Fairfax, just north of Museum Row on the Miracle Mile, Molly Malone’s was originally known for ear-splitting bands and cramped space. Now you’ll find more room to stand, sway, sit and mingle. If you don’t like the band, stick to the main bar at the front entrance. Beers on tap include: Guinness Stout, Bass, Newcastle, cider and Harp Lager. The remodeling has really improved the place and attracted a larger variety of bands, including folk, blues and punk. The cover charge on band nights ranges from $5 to $10, but it’s usually worth it. Even Lenny Kravitz has popped by to play a set. Molly Malone’s caters to die-hard regulars, but even though the pub’s been around for 30 years, it feels very contemporary. The semi-young, semi-trendy crowd consists mainly of college students and Miracle Mile locals. They’re excited to have a place close enough to stumble drunkenly home from (a rarity in Los Angles, where the car is king). If you plan to spend Saint Paddy’s Day here, arrive early or you will never get inside.
